Todd Walker, L.Ac.

Todd is a NC licensed and nationally board certified (NCCAOM) Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist. Todd received his Master's from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC. Todd once heard vocation described as, "When the heart's calling wakes up to the world's great need". Providing affordable care to our community on a sliding-scale has given Todd the perfect opportunity to answer a great need of our world, accessibility to health care. This encourages better treatment follow-through, leading to greater relief and restored balance in body, mind and spirit. And by receiving acupuncture in a shared space, health is a collective journey rather than a solitary one.

Todd upholds the belief that good medicine supports the conditions for health to thrive. He particularly enjoys treating acute and chronic pain, stress (anxiety and depression), respiratory, and digestive challenges. Fueled by passion for the role of whole foods in healing, Todd offers guidance and classes in these subjects. Todd has taught Qi Gong and meditation workshops, based on the teachings of Jeffrey Yuen, world renowned teacher of Oriental Medicine and 88th generation Daoist priest with whom Todd Studied for four years. Todd is highly influenced by his primary teachers, Susan Johnson (a pupil of the great Miram Lee and teacher of the methods of Master Tung Ching Chang, a revered acupuncturist from Taiwan), and the Global Balance method of acupuncture as taught by Richard Teh-Fu Tan.

Todd holds a B.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire, and a diploma from the Outdoor Leadership Program/ Greenfield Community College in Massachusetts. Todd worked extensively with at-risk youth for nearly nine years in the field of wilderness therapy. He supported their emergence from self-defeating behaviors and identities to more self-assured, caring and responsible young adults.

Todd lives in Black Mountain with his wife, Katie, daughters, Clare, Lillian and Jade, and the other man of the house, his shepherd-husky, Oakley. Todd's role as husband, father and small business owner has deepened his connections to many friends, families, and businesses throughout our mountain towns. Todd is intent on upholding green business principles and strives to support local sustainable business. Todd is grateful to offer "medicine for the people".
